The Perfect Transitional Jacket from Summer to Fall

The Summer months and early Fall months in the San Francisco Bay Area typically are warm and hover over seventy degrees. Summer evenings cool off as the fog rolls in and early Fall temperatures tend to cool off earlier in the day occasionally falling into the upper sixties. This means Fashionistas in the Bay Area need to have the perfect transitional jacket that will carry them from Summertime fog into the Fall season.

Leather jackets have popped up in the Fall collections of Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Dior, Alice + Olivia, Winter Kate Jo, The Row, Extosis, Graham & Spencer and even Target. The majority of leather jackets this Fall are in various shades of brown, although a few black ones have popped up which are begging to be paired with the Minimalism look for Fall. Leather jacket styles are varying from belted, hip length jackets to cropped, zip up styles along with classic motorcycle jackets.

The reason leather jackets make the perfect transitional jacket is that they cover up without adding too much heat. Along with military style jackets, leather jackets offer a thin fabric which is tough enough to withstand daily use yet thin enough to wear when the sun is shining. Leather jackets are also a staple for a Fashionistas' Fall wardrobe making them the perfect jacket to buy as a long-term investment.

Fall 2010 is a great season with so many choices for Bay Area Fashionistas. The 70's trend50's trend and 90's Minimalism offer style choices for every fashion taste. The military trend and leather jacket trend also offer choices for the perfect transitional jacket this Summer into Fall.

In these recessionary times, Fashionistas have the option of shopping the new trends or shopping their own closets to find the perfect leather jacket from a previous season. Past season jackets can be cropped or belted. Look for a neutral color or go with red to add some pop to your 90's Minimalism look. If your leather jacket looks as if it needs a little TLC, do not use shoe polish to brighten it up. The polish may rub off onto other clothing in your closet or on your body. Freshen up a leather jacket with leather conditioner and store away from humid locations such as the bathroom. Enjoy this trend and stay fabulous!
